The recent warning from the American College of Emergency Physicians has me ticked. Must common sense always be optional? Can't our coffee and our Pop Tarts be piping hot after they are prepared without our being warned in advance? Can't I be counted on to know that my bag of nuts contains nuts? Shouldn't I take a sleeping pill because it causes drowsiness?
Warning: If you are walking into oncoming traffic because you are engrossed in reading or writing a text message, you don't deserve advance warning. You deserve a Darwin Award.
*But wait until you get home from that blindfolded bike ride.
5 caws:
I wouldn't read a book and walk around. How dumb do you have to be? And if you're that dumb would you pay any attention to a warning from a bunch of doctors? Gosh....what would they know anyway. sigh....
The laptop in the bath called to mind a scene from the movie Groundhog Day. Bill Murray's character was trying to kill himself and went downstairs, grabbed a toaster and took it upstairs to the bath. Proof that my mind works on some strange tangents I suppose
When I was in 3rd grade I was walking down the hall with my nose stuck into Super Fudge and walked right into the principal. I do believe that was the last time I read and walked :-)
Minnesota just passed a law that makes texting, surfing the internet and e-mailing while driving illegal. I too, think duh, folks...then I found out that a guy from a nearby town was texting while driving in the excess of 80 mph! The law was only in effect for one day. Apparently, he didn't get the warning.
I doubt if it would have mattered though. There's a boat load of people out there with little common sense.
The one that just slays me is on OTC sleeping pills (Unisom, Nytol etc.). Right on the label it says, "CAUTION: May cause drowsiness".
Well, no shit, Sherlock. Talk about a blinding flash of the obvious.
Can't tell you how many times I've seen someone reading or doing something stupid while driving and those are the type of people who flip you off when you honk at them because they are also trying to turning left while in a non-turning lane and about to smash into your car!!!
Hubby took Unisom last night and there should be a warning more like CAUTION: May cause you to dream, talk about crazy shit all night long in your sleep and keep your wife up! :)
